Kuala Lumpur witnessed a monumental milestone on Monday, 20 July 2026, as Sarawak’s very own airline, AirBorneo, successfully operated its historic commercial inaugural flight from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1).
Leading this historic journey was none other than the Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, serving as a powerful symbol of confidence in the state government’s strategic initiative.
Upon landing, the Premier was warmly welcomed at KLIA1 by the Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia and Member of Parliament for P213 Mukah, YB Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, alongside a united lineup of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders from both the Federal and State governments. Their presence underscored a strong, collective commitment to the Premier’s visionary leadership in driving Sarawak toward a prosperous and progressive future.
